This is a community designed for people who refer to themselves as, are referred to as, or are just interested in the dark/gothic/individual/alternative/etc. lifestyles to come and express themselves in an atmosphere free from unfair judgments. This can be done mainly through photography, but also with poetry, creative writing, artwork, ideas, general ramblings, and/or any other expression of the imagination or of yourself and your lifestyle. As such, the purpose of this journal is open to whatever it’s members feel the need to use it for in order to express themselves and their fetishes/lifestyles/thoughts/imagination/etc. Members are encouraged to be creative, creepy, exotic, etc.…just be yourself! Share with everybody your darkest fantasies or your wildest imaginations. Have fun, this community is for everyone to share their inner thoughts/feelings in a place where they can feel safe that they will not be ridiculed or made fun of for who they really are. The world would be a boring place if we were all the same, so let us celebrate our differences, as extreme as they may happen to be.
Remember: This community is not just for those who live such alternative lifestyles, but also for all of those interested in the dark side of life or any of the alternative lifestyles. Any and all are welcome to join!
One of the main uses, although not strictly for this reason, of this journal should be for its members to post pictures of themselves or objects expressing themselves and/or their lifestyles. Anyone can post pictures. Personal scanned, webcam, and digital pictures are welcome. Please read the rules below in the "pictures" section before posting.
One of the main influences for the creation of this community has been the gothic_babes community. If you haven't already done so, check out their community and join! Please note, however, that this community is not affiliated with that community in any way whatsoever.
This community has been created and is maintained by mattn217. All questions, comments, concerns, or suggestions should be directed at him here.
There are some pretty simple rules for this community, and I ask that you kindly follow them. Yes, I do realize it's a rather long list of rules, but most of it is common sense. These rules are not set in stone, they are subject to change at any given time, and exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis.
PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY, AS THESE RULES ARE STRICTLY ENFORCED!!! *Anybody who does not follow these rules will be warned once. Repeat offenders will be banned, no questions asked.
Rules and Guidelines:
As of right now, all members have posting access. However, if certain rules are not adhered to, I will be forced to limit who can post to the community. All types of posts are welcome, as long as they are on theme of the community (read through some of the interests to get a feel for what this community is all about). Pictures, poems, ramblings, short stories, and other such things are welcome. If, for some reason, you are unfamiliar with the more technical aspects of LiveJournal, check out the LiveJournal FAQ and help pages for answers to various questions such as how to post pictures, how to edit or delete your posts or how to use the LJ-CUT tags.
>> Please use the LJ Cut whenever necessary (e.g. relatively long posts).
>> Please do NOT post quizzes. They will be deleted ASAP should you do so.
>> Try to stay on topic, although I will leave the topic of this community quite broad for now.
>> PLEASE no drama.
>> Homophobia, racism, sexism and other hate speech are NOT welcome here.
>> Plagiarism of any kind will NOT be tolerated! If caught, you will be banned immediately and reported to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you are posting the works of others, you must explicitly acknowledge the source and give the author full credit. In other words, state their name, and give them credit for creating it. Do not try to pass it off as your own work or make misleading statements that make it sound as if you were the creator of the work.
>> In the rare case that a moderator asks you to edit a post or comment, you must do so in a timely manner. (Examples of this would include, perhaps, putting large pictures or multiple pictures behind an LJ Cut should you happen to forget; or something along those lines).
Pictures are more than welcome and strongly encouraged here, however there are certain guidelines and restrictions that need to be imposed for this as well.
>> Any more than 2 pictures, and/or any pictures that are excessively large (i.e. 600 or above length or width) and/or take a while to load must be behind an LJ-cut. This is to give dial up users and people with slow connection less loading to deal with on their friends list.
>> Nudity must be put behind an LJ-Cut with a warning making it clear that it contains nudity. Anyone who posts nude pictures without an LJ-cut will be warned. If it happens again, the person will be banned.
>> YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 18 TO POST NUDE PICTURES OF YOURSELF! Furthermore, your birthday must be visible in your user info. If it is discovered that you are under the age of 18, your photographic posts will be deleted, and you will be warned not to post pictures anymore. If you continue to do so, you will be banned and reported to LiveJournal and your account will be suspended. Please do NOT make me do this.
>> Let’s try to keep the nudity nice, tasteful and possibly semi-artistic, shall we?
>> Please do not post copyrighted images unless you hold the copyright or you have sought permission.
If you don't have a webpage and would like to host your pictures for free or relatively cheap, I’ve provided a list of websites that you may look into to see if you can upload images and remote load from:
Each member is encouraged to comment whenever they feel. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and are encouraged to share these opinion, even when she/he disagrees with someone's post, as long as it does not start a “flame war.”
>> Be polite and courteous to all members. We are all decent, civilized people here, so let's try and act like it.
>> Be respectful of other peoples’ opinions and lifestyles.
>> You may comment on others’ pictures, but please be respectful. If you, personally, do not like a style, it is alright to say so, but not in a rude or obnoxious manner that would cause any type of conflict between yourself and another user.
>> Do not harass people. Everyone's lifestyle and choices are their own business. Advice is one thing, lecturing is another.
>> “Comment Wars” will be deleted and depending on the content of the comments, I reserve the right to temporarily or permanently ban a member from the community.
>> Basic courtesy should be applied when commenting, I'm assuming we're adults here, so please, let's at least act like them in discussion.
All questions, comments, suggestions, complaints, and reports of abuse are to be directed to the moderator of this community at: email@example.com
